This small mixed media commission was a housewarming gift for a couple who had just purchased the home of their dreams, but came upon some obstacles in their goal to fill it with children. Some art magick was in order to bless their endeavors. Firstly, to represent children, subtle succulent imagery was incorporated - hens and chicks! This was achieved with an image transfer technique to blur it into the background. A gracefully sweeping peacock feather heart was added as a nod to the recipients’ personal patron animal, and to surround the home with love, luck, and protection. The couple’s monogram was included to tie them directly to the art. Finally, the entire piece was set aglow with the help of metallic inks in copper and shades of blue.
